Why choose Gerlitzen?
Home of Matthias Mayer, Olympic Gold medalist in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Gerlitzen is a great choice for beginner and intermediate groups.
Staying in either Ossiach or Bodensdorf, you’re directly on the lake and just a short drive from the Gerlitzen mountain. The villages have all the necessary amenities for your group. Both can be found a short drive away from our other accommodation in Villach Landskron.
Landskron is the closest village to the ski area and Villach, where you can soak your ski legs in the city’s Thermal Baths – Villach Warmbad. Villach also offers a range of shops and plenty of things to do during the day and on a group evening out. Why not take your group for an evening of ice skating at one of the rinks in Villach and Steindorf?
On the piste
Access the ski area from Annenheim, via the Kanzelbahn gondola. From the middle station, sweeping pistes open out across the mountain, offering a wide range of skiing for all abilities. Those new to the snow can find their feet at the fantastic beginners’ area located at the middle station. Head further up the hill to take in breathtaking views over the Ossiacher Lake and the peaks that stand guard over the border with Slovenia.
HTS groups have the added advantage of ski storage on the mountain as well as a welcome hot lunch in a mountain restaurant, to keep you going right up until the last lift ascent.
Ongoing investment in ski lift and snowmaking technology has seen a rise in Gerlitzen’s popularity with both skiers and snowboarders, yet queuing remains a rare occurrence. You’ll find clearly marked, well-groomed runs and a collection of authentic mountain huts, restaurants and sunny terraces – ideal for soaking up the scenery and hot chocolate.
